Billard Architecture Inc. was founded by Robert Billard, AIBC, MRAIC, LEED© AP, Principal in 2010. Billard Architecture is a full-service Architectural firm located on the unceded traditional territory of the Qay’qayt and Musqueam First Nations, as well as all Coast Salish peoples, in uptown New Westminster. In more than 35 years of Architectural practice, Robert has had the opportunity to solve some of the most challenging problems in architecture and applies the same logical, holistic approach each time. We have projects in municipalities all over the lower mainland and the interior of BC, and Robert has project experience Canada-wide. We are well-versed in the rezoning and development permit process and maintain excellent relationships with city personnel. In addition, we have hosted several successful Public Information Meetings to engage and involve the public. We take public feedback to heart as we strive to build excellent and inclusive communities.
Billard Architecture Inc.’s works primarily consist of multifamily residential buildings. Robert coined the term ‘surgical density’ which means to create a home in an under-utilized space, whether it be renovating a storage room in an aging apartment building to create new rental homes or designing a multifamily residence on an orphan lot with community well-being as the primary focus. Our projects are purpose-driven to provide affordable and inclusive housing to as many people as possible. We work with third-party organizations to implement inclusionary housing and to steer projects toward equitable solutions.
